I have always been passionately interested in Western and American history, historical scholarship, genealogical research and cemetery preservation. I am particularly interested in the restoration of military headstones. I have worked with the Veterans Administration, Arlington and other National Cemeteries, funeral homes, monument companies, government officials, Veterans Service Officers, the American Legion and the Indian State Archives to install new military headstones for Civil War soldiers whose graves are unmarked, or whose stones are badly deteriorated and need replaced. I have over ten years of experience cleaning and resetting stones in hundreds of cemeteries.
My graduate work focused on antebellum American history, especially the Civil War era. I am a published writer and have a traveling exhibit on the 33rd Indiana Infantry, which has been hosted by several public libraries and the Indiana State Archives. I am a professor at Indiana Wesleyan University and have taught classees in both Western and American history.
My home is suburban Indianapolis, but I travel extensively throughout the state of Indiana. The solitude of the cemetery provides a place of quiet enjoyment for me as I reflect on the meaning of life and our ancestors' sacrifice to provide a better future for subsequent generations. Nobody is forgotten as long as there is someone left to remember. I look forward to helping you preserve the memory of your ancestors by caring for the monuments which honor their lives.
